Some adventures in mental ray. Learned how to combine the mi_car_paint_phen, coupled with a normal map.
Using the bump combiner node ( a special node i had to hunt down off the net) I was finally able to connect the damn thing.
Using the relationship editor i added the mi_car_paint_phen shader to the bump combiner, by connecting the results output, to the
M_input. Then i piped in the 2dbump node into M_bump_0, and enable m_bump in the property's tab for the bump combiner.
A hdr and a few area lights later i wound up with this. And with a lack of background, what else could i put in there..
It had to be 80's lasers..
